1992 accord, the brake pedal goes to the floor no external leaks.
Hey guys,
Alright, my bosses son has a 92 honda accord, it had disc all around. he came in with a low pedal, the brake fluid is not low, and the pedal was hard and at the right location when the car is off, but when you start the car, the pedal drops to the floor. I bleed the system and that did not help. so of course this sounds like text book bad master cylinder, so i replaced it,bench bleed it, and bleed the system. same problem.
all the brake pads and rotors are new, we replaced the front calipers because the left front was returning poorly. and still the pedal drops to the floor.
So now like every tech out there i was thinking, it is possible that the master i got was bad, i mean it happens. so i got another one and bleed it, the works. but still the pedal drops to the floor.
Now the only thing i can think of is the abs modulator, it has an abs light on, but my boss said it has been on for year (goes with the old joke that the mechanics car is allway broken lol) i dont have the tools to bleed the abs, so i am kind of stuck now.
oh and just to say, i am a tech, but i specialize in GM cars and trucks, so i am in new territories now, not use to the honda systems.
What do you guys think?

I doubt its the ABS, 9 times out of 10, when that happens, its a bad Master. even the smallst amount of dirt, will screw things up. I had the same prob on my 92 accord, it drove me crazy, finally I got a brand new, not refurbed, master, made sure everthing was super clean, even bled it in my house to prevent any dirt getting into it. Cleaned the whole area around the master and booster, just in case. Wala!! Worked, Any small particle of dirt will mess that master up, I would get a new one and try again. If that dont help, calipers may be in need of replacement, or possibly a crimped line somewhere. I would definately bleed all brakes 3 times, just to make absolutely sure of no air in system as well. Hell Ive bled brakes with 2 full large bottles of fluid just to be on the safe side. Good luck!
PS: I dont think the 92's had ABS, at least I dont think I have it on mine, not 100% sure though!

The 90-93 EX sedans came with ABS standard on the LXs I believe it was optional. I would the check the modulator because chances are that unit has air in it there's a way to bleed that system without having to bleed the brakes themselves.
There is a chance that the ABS modulator needs to be replaced or it has air in it that's somehow getting into the rest of the brake system.
I have access to factory repair manuals in PDF file format for that car. If you do need help shoot me an email.

Ya that would be awesome if you could send me the pdf, new to this forum, and don't know how to message, usually i could send a pm(private message) but dont see a link to it, my e-mail is CaddyBoy99@comcast.net Is there a way to bleed the abs without having the computer for it?
oh and yes i am positive that it has abs, it has the unit on the passange side of the car, and the abs light is actually on idk the code my boss said that he looked up the code a long time ago, but never fixed it. idk why if it was me i would fix anything wrong with the car i drive.
thanks

you cannot use the IM feature until you are no longer a trial user. Once you are a full member you can click the icon under the users info and a IM window will appear. You can get it from there.
please note that links to copy written material are not allowed to be posted. I only mention this because of the PDF manuals being discussed.
