Default 96 Accord Radio resetting

I have a 96 Accord LX with 251,XXX miles on it that I use as my daily. Every morning before work I make a run for Dunkin Donuts. On my way back to the car my car struggles to turn on. I have to try it twice (I don't give it gas) to turn on. When the car turns on the radio presets reset.

I also have an issue with my turn signals not working. I changed my flasher relay about a year ago and it's been acting shady ever since. I'm guessing my mechanic didn't use a OEM part and that could be why it doesn't work like it should. It works on and off.

Anyway could the first issue be related to the battery, fuse, relay or alternator? My battery is properly mounted and secure by the way.

Have the battery tested and check the backup fuse. In order for the radio to reset it would need to loose complete battery power. Your car wouldn't even start in this case. I would check to make sure the back-up/radio fuse is in good and tight.

Is there any other electrical wiring work that has been done under the dash? Maybe an aftermarket radio or alarm system? If so, you might want to check the wiring and make sure that it is still in good shape and hasn't come loose or rubbed against something and worn through. Just some things to look at

I installed an aftermarket Kenwood headunit in my car about 2 years ago. I purchased the right harness for it and mounted everything. It's worked ever since so I doubt it could be that. I didn't have to solder anything when installing the radio.

I will tell you one thing though. I purchased JDM Headlights about 2 years ago and slacked on the install. I was soldering the wires then got lazy so I twisted the rest and put electrical tape on it to secure it. Could that be an issue? If so I'm going to change them out for stocks and sell my JDM's without the corners.

My L/R turn signals are shady also. When I flick the switch I don't hear the clicks. I have to flick it on and off to hear the clicks but it clicks at a weird interval which is not normal.

Thanks Ghost.

A bare wire could be an issue. Check to make sure everything is still connected and covered up. Other than that it's battery or back-up fuse for the stereo resetting. The no start issue could be the battery, main relay or the ignition. Troubleshooting electrical gremlins is a PITA over the internet!

In the case of the turn signals. That sounds like a relay issue.

Most definitely the flasher relay. I'm going to buy an OEM flasher relay and swapped it this weekend.
