Default SOLVED: 1990 Accord won't Start, Trouble Code 15, Ignition Problem

Hi all,

My Accord refused to start on me. I checked the LED light code on the ECU and it gave a 15. Following the diagnostic in the Service manual, I removed the "Backup" fuse for 10 sec., and replaced it. Tried starting again, still won't start, but now not giving any CEL at all. I've ruled out the main relay, spark plugs, distributor cap, and ignition rotor. I don't think it is my fuel pump either, as I loosened the fuel test port and turned the key to position 2, and fuel seeped out, so that indicates to me that the fuel pump is good (though I could be wrong, as that isn't necessarily a good test. Anything else I should check? The service manual says that if I don't get a check engine light after the procedure above, to just check a couple connections. Thanks for any advise!

Just a follow-up to anyone who is having a similar problem:

I did one more test to determine if it was a fuel or and ignition problem. I sprayed starter fluid in the intake and tried to start it. It didn't, so that proved to me that I had an ignition error (as the trouble code 15 indicates) If it started, then died, it would have meant a fuel supply problem.

There weren't very many components left in the ignition system that could be causing the issue. I tested the ignition coil next.

The service manual gives spec to check. Resistance between the two main leads when disconnected should be between .6 and .8 ohms. I checked mine and it gave 1.2 ohms. Next, the resistance between the first lead and the secondary winding should be between 13,600 to 19,800 ohms. Mine read 9,800 ohms. Since both of these were outside of spec, according to the manual, this was a faulty part. I replaced the ignition coil. After that it turned over and tried to start. I had to start it and rev the gas pedal a few times to get it running smoothly, but it is running just fine now.
