Default 1990 accord vibrations under acceleration

Last month I purchased a 1990 Accord EX to be my wifes daily driver. I've had quite a bit of mechanical experience over the years and ordered a bunch of parts to throw at it to make it reliable for her and get rid of some of the clicks and clunks in the front end... (there wern't vibrations under acceleration when I bought it)

I did all the ball joints and tie rods as well as new upper control arms and stablizer links. While I was doing this I noticed the long shaft on the driverside (left side) had a cracked boot and had been contaminated with dust/dirt... I immediatly called the local parts store and ordered a remanufactured CV (first mistake) I had everything apart I figure I may as well fix it... I put it in (noting it had no dynamic dampener and was told it's completely normal at the counter)... As I drove over to the next town to get an alignment done last minute on a friday, I noiced a vibration under acclerating load that hadn't been there before... and a slight scraping/howl when first starting off... Hoping the alignment would help or maybe cure this I got the alignment done, of course the problem still is present. While the mechanic had it on the alignment jig, I went over and started asking him about the vibration and he wiggled the opposite shaft I had just replaced and told me the inner joint was worn which is known to cause vibrations under accleration on this car in particular... So I ordered another axle, now two brand new ( actually remanufactred) axles I hoped this would cure the issue, but it still presists...

The motor mounts aren't new but they aren't broken, this accord has 90 000 original km's on it (although they might be all city driving I dunno)

To me it has to be axles or motor mounts, I'm tempted to run my car on jack stands but don't really feel safe doing that, I might take it in to a local mechanic to get another opinion!

what should I do? or what would you do?

I am in a tough spot, I have these like new remaned axles, and to look at them they look nice and clean and striaght the joints feel tight... I'm playing with the idea of ordering raxles installing them and if it fixes my issue i'll go throw my remans on the desk at carquest.... I really don't want another reman axle from them just to have the same issue....

thanks guys
Eric

there's a thought

it has fairly new ceramic pads and rotors

all engine mounts look to be in great shape, , some small cracks....

I cannot verify the condition of the solinoid actuated mount at the rear of the motor, nor do I know if it is function properly....

put it this way, before the front end work I had no vibration!

Returned my Car quest remaned driver side long half shaft for another one, problem fixed!

A LOT of vibration issues on the internet with re manufactured half shafts and sounds like the vast majority of new ones are sub par chinese junk... Which have now started getting re manufactured and re circulated causing even more problems!

Honda put out a TSB about the inner CV causing vibration under load if loose. They of course also don't recommend re maned half shafts, but then again they don't recommend any aftermarket parts!

So if you have factory axles I suggest finding a local re builder or doing it yourself!

BTW factory axles are worth 50 bucks a core to Martin at raxles! so don't sell em to AZ or CQ for 30 or less!

cheers!

yeah, i had issues with reman axles as well dude. i replaced both oem units, which both had split outer cv boots, with reman axles from advance auto. Huge mistake. Within a few weeks both axles were clicking already and one ended up seizing up on me on the highway. Talk about extremely dangerous for one and a terrible part as the right side laster less than a year and the left only 4 months. I said screw it and paid 850 bucks for brand new OEM axles and not a problem since.

I totally regret giving my japanese cores to Car quest they were still in okay shape and I found a guy locally that rebuilds CV's.

I didn't have 850 to fork on honda axles. Actually more than 500 a side in Canada!

I hope the ones in the car now last, until then I'm going to keep my eyes open for some factory axles at a wrecker that don't have split boots!

I almost went with raxles, but my factory cores were already gone, which he charges 50 a side, plus 80 for shipping to ontario... It killed the deal for me...

I spend enough money at Car Quest looking after my a small fleet they at least will replace there junk with more junk lol...

Even the axles they sell new which are EMPI are made in China 135 bucks a side my cost...

After looking at LOTS of options, the only two longshafts that come with dynamic balancers are OEM and Raxles, all other are without it.

I've herd a few guys say they've never had a long shaft axle without a dynamic banancer not vibrate...

I have one without on my car right now that is smooth as silk (I just hope it lasts)

cheers

Thanks for sharing your experience with shitty remaned axles, we need to make this known. It's quite frustrating putting faulty new parts on your car, because it makes you feel as if something else is wrong! but in fact it's just sub par chinese junk parts!!!!

Mine were GSP axles. I am not sure where they are made to be honest. but what happened to me was unsafe, and personally, because i work on cars, i knew what was going on and how to control it, but it is very possible someone who had no idea could have easily hurt themselves or even worse in that situation.
