Default 02 accord clock light/hazard light

This is been beaten over the head numerous times, but mine is different. My clock light won't light up at night, nor does the hazard switch light up either, but both function fine, meaning that the clock works adn the hazard works, just that they don't illuminate at night. Yes I checked both bulbs and they both are fine, so rule that out, just that it doesnt illuminate when I turn my parking/lights on, and when I press the hazard button, the switch doesnt blink like its suppose to, seems like the light bulbs arent getting activated or something. No its not the fuse, because light functions perfectly, can be seen in the daytime just fine......wierd issue...anyone?

How did you check them, by looking at them? Mine looked fine, but upon closer inspection, i found a tiny break in the filament. As a test, you can swap out another bulb from something that you know works.

Do you have a friend with a 6th generation Accord? If so, take their hazard light / clock and plug it into your car, see if it works. If it does, just buy a new one for about $18 and your problems are solved.

Back in '99 I had busted that part in my '99 LX while taking it out to get to my radio, that's how I know the price of the part. Might be a couple more bucks now thanks to inflation.

For the burnt out clock light bulb, the clock will work fine, but the light will be out when you turn the lights on. This means it is time to buy a new bulb. I have had the same situation in my dad's 02 sedan and my 02 coupe. When I talked to the guy behind the parts counter at my local dealer, he said that the clock light bulbs are the second best seller after oil filters.

I plugged the bulbs in another location and they worked fine, don't question someone's knowledge when they rule out certain things. Also, it would pay to actually READ.

I'm thinking its the whole unit as to some of you have suggested, however why would both be defective, as in both hazard light and clock light? was that your case too?

Hey, how about actually being greatful people like myself and others are trying to help you? I actually did read your post. You said the bulbs worked fine, did they light up in another location or were the digits readable? Like I said above, the 6th gen clock the clock will still function even with a burnt out bulb, it just won't illumuniate at night. If you don't believe me, why don't you dish out the $3 for a new bulb from the dealer instead of crying about it. Let me guess, you can't because you are saving for Altezza's you put on lay away.

"Checking the bulbs" as you put it, is not going to solve your problem. I "checked my old bulbs" and they "checked" out fine. I can put the old bulb in, and the clock will read but will not illuminate. You can whine all you want and be stubborn all you want, but your old bulb will not magically illuminate again unless you somehow cut the cables that attach to the clock. This is a 6th gen issue, but you should know this when you said you did the research from old posts. As for the hazard light, I am not so certain, but as for the clock light, you need to replace it. If you click on the link I greatfully directed you to on the bottom, it clearly says "Illumination bulb." I'm done. You can thank me later when you realize $3 and a trip to the parts department at your local Honda Dealer is all it took.
