for N/A? HELL NO.
for boost? perhaps if you're trying to get every pony possible, but still not worth $1k IMHO.

If you want a serious answer no its not worth $1k.
Buy a better flowing head such as an H23a head or possibly an H22a head if you really wanna go all out.
If your going FI, I would recomend the H23a head though for tuneability reasons.

the thing is, every mechanic is different and some is better than other.
when talking about valve job/head port unless you know the dude does great work, it's almost risky to have some monkey port your ****.
the NA gain is minium, throw the grand into turbo fund and let the fun begin

The OP's speaking of King Motorsports no? I've got to thread jack this one... How about a service such as PortFlow's PnP with valve job, deshrouding, polishing chambers, surface deck, new seals, TI dual valve springs, TI retainters, bronze valve guides, TI valves, inspection and assembly for a boosted SOHC VTEC? Worth the $1716?

I'm guessing these guys are not familiar with Good cylinder head service. That is a pretty decent price for the services offered. I would like anybody to link this guy to a "known good" head porter like Port flow for under a grand.

We aren't doubting the cost or value of the job, we are saying he shouldn't spend that kind of money on that head. He can head swap and achieve better gains and better results if he spends that money on the NEW head.

Correct, though I believe the purpose of this post was to debate the potential benefit of the headwork itself, dealing with whatever head most of the users here already posess. Additionally, I think cb7-R has a good idea of why I originally posted here. It's a proven fact that in the world of porting, there can be a night and day difference - gain or loss - in results between two different methods. I would not argue with PortFlow's reputation, much less the accomplishments their services have provided.
In this thread, price is of concern, and will determine whether a given person deems a 'head job' worth it. In my opinion, price should be subjective, and the the quality of the service itself should play a much larger role in determining whether this is worth your consideration.
Basically, if the price of a job well done is too much for your needs/budget, then I would look elsewhere before compromising on quality. If this is the case, then...

This is true. The F22xx engines arent particularly a good starting point for an all motor build(despite Bisimoto)

If your going all motor or turbo i would get a h22 head, you can find a used h22 head for $300-500 then spend another few dollars swapping it in there, and the h22 head will flow more cfm then your 1k f22 head depending on porter.dont spend 1grand on a f22 head.
