Default Wyotech VS. UTI: I would like to hear Testimonials for those who attended

Ok,

So for the past year I have been debating on going to UTI at first which seemed like a great place to get the skills to become a AMT. Now since doing my research,
I hear Wyotech is way better from other people who have attended there. They
say UTI is garbage and you don't learn anything there. So now I just would to hear from you guys who have been to one of these institutes. I.E- How was it there experience wise, were the instructors great people helping you, etc. How close are you to the campus in living distance. Discuss.

Edit: My main short term goal is become very successful at this;which in then I am confident to open up my own high performance business.

UTI grad here,
currently in the BMW program.

u do get a good amount of knowledge out of uti. but when u go to CTGs its a different story. IMO if u go to uti u better get into a CTG

uti would be 10 times better if
1.it were harder to get into
&
2 and if certain phase's (courses) were abit longer, but thats not saying that the instructors wont teach u that stuff. really u just gatta ask and they will teach you ALOT of ****. its just that the curriculum arent gr8.

Ok, here is the rundown on the two schools.......I have attended both

I went to UTI for about two weeks (the minimum draw out period) and decided the school sucked. They are under funded and have crap for equipment. They have pretty much the same tools as WyoTech but the lifts and whatnot are junk. UTI is full of morons and rich kids......of which WyoTech is also. I have found that the quality of instructors is WAY better at WyoTech and the overall equipment and learning experience is better there. With WyoTech you are going to most likely be located in the middle of nowhere for schooling unless you go to the new Sacramento campus.

I happened to go to the Blairsville, PA campus where you stay in dorms on IUP's campus which is 72% female populated college.

You have to deal with immature KIDS at either school but the overall learning experience is better at WyoTech.

word to the wise tho......don't bother taking the $7,300 add on classes......it is not worth it.

The best program route that you can take at Wyotech is ASM and Automotive. It is cheaper and you get more out of it including a DEGREE instead of a diploma like all of UTI's programs and the rest of WyoTech's programs.

Applied Service Management is a great tool AS LONG AS YOU PAY ATTENTION for those that would like to start up their own business one day.

Just remember, you will only get what you put into it. Work hard and try to stay focused and stay away from the druggies and drunks and you will be fine. There are a bunch of Honda herads always in attendance there and there are quite a few haters of imports there too.

Do you mind telling me the names of the other 7,300 add on classes are. How long
does the whole thing last as in months. Is it really true it takes up to 18 months or less.

I had a degree in about 9 months but you go to class five days a week and your are there for 10+ hours a day.

the classes are as follows

Core classes are

Collision and refinishing

automotive technology

The core add on classes are (included with the 9 month program)

ASM (applied service mgmt.), Street Rod/Custom Fabrication and Chassis fabrication/high performance engines

Add on classes are (if they were not already included in your core)

Trim and upholstry, Street Rod/Custom Fabrication, and Chassis fabrication/high performance engines and ASM

there are also some classes for the Diesel program but I did not attend a campus where Diesel was offered.

I am telling you tho, the add on classes are completely worthless and will serve you no purpose. Out of everybody that I have talked to, the ones that (including myself) took the ASM with Automotive Technology core were the happiest and most successful after college.

I am currently at Wyotech right now in Laramie, Wyoming. Its not the best place to be but I'm here for school and the program im taking are ASM applied service management and my core class it automotive. I already finished taking the ASM part it wasnt so bad as long as u pay attenetion. Takin the auto classes right now im in EMS engine management systems right now i have 3 more phases before i graduate i took the 9 month course. I feel the ASM and Automotive class is the most usefull in the field for later on. All the add on classes are expensive plus with asm you get a degree instead of a diploma thats the reason why i picked Wyotech over Uti. I knew a few friends that went to UTI and they said it wasnt all that great. I meet a guy here that went to uti for a few phases and dropped out he said it wasnt worth it and decided to come to wyotech and said so far its a lot better then UTI. So i duno its just from what i experieced so far. I say its a good school you do learn new things everyday its not boring and the equipment are pretty new from what i see. SO far its been ok for me just this damn place is so boring. But denver is only 2 hrs a way which is not bad, also if you love the outdoors this is the place to be

the career oppurtunities are not as obundant as they would be if you went to WyoTech tho. I had job offers all over the country of which all of them paid pretty well. Most of them offered a tuition re-embursement program and almost all of them offered to purchase you a starter tool set.

well like I said, I went to UTI and it sucked *****. Their classroom environment sucked and their mock ups were SEVERELY lacking. Their instructors were retards and the students were even worse.

i actually had very good luck with most of my instructors. they were intelligent people who brought a ton of **** to the table in the classroom. i dont see how you can comment on all the instructors as you were only there there for 2 weeks. thats not even a phase. the instructors are the only thing that make that school worth a damn.

ill agree the students are retards, the adminsitration are retards and liars, the training aids are horribly outdated like the material but hey they have a new 26,000,000$ training facility and a recruiting team that will lie through their teeth to get students Click the image to open in full size. what a great corporation.

wyotech in sac here..... great school if you pay attention. u can really make your money go further if you ask questions and participate. also do the degree programs they get you much further in they working industry. There are goods and bads at every school. just make something of it no matter where you go.
The campus in sac is great, two esp dynos, modis full snap-on tools, plenty of lifts, lots of room, quality instructors. the campus is less than 2 years old, so it has some bugs to work out, also make not that seqioua tech in fremont is now wyotech. btw there are plenty of idiots that think they know it all when they attend tech schools. it quite comical to see em eff up after they just got done saying they know so much.

Or you can PM rico91stang. He is a counselor at UTI. He is unbiased since he used to work at Wyotech. If you're honestly interested in going to one of these two schools I'd send him a PM so he can get you ahead of the already large amount of applicants there are. Little story, he helped me get into UTI and gave me the hook up with BMW and guess who hired me after I graduated, BMW. I was an engineer for BMW for some time before I started my own frozen dairy dessert business. So if you're looking to make a handsome salary that's where I would start.
