Default What happens to homeless people when they die?

I was just at a convenience store on campus getting some pop. As I was reaching to open the iced-over door to leave the store it began to open so I stood back a little to let the person in. A homeless guy I've seen on campus time to time was coming in the store but definitely having a problem walking in, like a serious problem baby-stepping it into the store. Not sure what the deal was I tried to step around him to hold open the door for him to get in when he grabbed my arms tightly and started saying something incoherent to me. He then fell and the store employees took over and I peaced the expletive out. Also I could smell Vodka.

So I got to thinking, what happens to these poor souls when they die? Obviously there is no will, probably not even any type of identification. No doubt when a homeless person is found dead the local mortician takes over but what happens beyond that, especially if there is no family to contact or any way to find out if there is any relatives? Who decides final clothing and cemetery decisions?

I'm just curious, something I've wondered about time to time over the last several months since having to plan a funeral for my mom.

A lot of homeless people suffer from some kind of mental illness. From what I have observed around here, the North Shore of Oahu, many turn to some kind of serious addiction. But not all cases are this way.

I would guess that the local government picks up the slack when burying a dead homelss person. I definately don't see their faces in the obituary section.

State usually bury them or cremates them. or donated to medical school if no next of ken can be located.

from what ive heard they are cremated or donated for medical purpouses. i think the medical choice is probably the best option and then after that they are cremated. atleast they helped with some kind of medical study or training. its sad to even see people like that but this is life. sometimes people feel they have no where left to turn and end up there.

i know i could turn to any of my friends or family at anytime. but if i kept abusing their help id hope theyd eventually turn me away as well. but not all homeless people are bad. some are just to proud to ask for help and are ashamed of thier situation which may not be thier fault at all. and most have drug/alcohol problems that lead them to that situation where family just cant deal with it anymore no matter how sad it is.

They return to the life stream where the energy from their soul is harvested by the evil electric company known as Shinra.. Shinra then uses the harvested life stream energy to develop super soldiers to control the planet. One such soldier goes rogue and attempts to become a god by causing grievous damage to the planet and then bathing in the life stream juices as the planet attempts to repair itself. However, one group [known as Avalanche] attempts to end Shinra's destruction of the planet and gets caught up in this greater life ending plot of the super soldier. This leads the group on an adventure all across the planet till they finally face off against the rogue super soldier created by Shinra in the northern cave.

My friend found a dead homeless guy in their dumpster. He called the cops and one of his co-workers threw a rock at him to see if he was still alive. The cops did the same thing.
