Default Westinghouse Tv any good?

Target is having a good BLACKFRIDAY deal on a 40in Westinghouse 1080p LCD tv for $298.

I just need a tv for my room and to game on every once in awhile.

anyone had experience with this brand?

thanks

I mean, that is pretty cheap for a 40". Might be worth picking up for that price, even if it only lasts you a few years.

That Target BF TV is BELOW their cost. They are selling it below their cost as a door buster. I know this as a fact.

Steer clear, girlfriend's family had two of the smaller ones (17") and both crapped out completely within two months. One was replaced under warranty then died again like a month later, the other they didn't even bother.

We have 1 32" 720P LCD and 1 42" 1080P LCD in various rooms in our house. The 32" had a dead pixel right out of the box. The 42" has been ok. The worst thing about them is the back light.....it's just like this white blob behind the screen.

We use them for bedroom TV's so, I can deal with it.

I have a Westinghouse LCD monitor. It's awful. I wouldn't take another for free.

That 40" being offered is made with a Samsung panel so it's actually pretty darn nice. Apparently, Target bought 80K units so there should be like 30-50 per store but I unno for sure.

I have one at the moment. It's a POS...the picture lags, so sometimes the sound doesn't go with the picture.

Westinghouse and Dynex are the two brands I'd stay away from. One of them being a LED 32" for $375 or something. I couldn't pass up on the deal.

I bought a couple Westinghouse from Target before and whilst the picture looks good, sound quality and remote was complete crap. I should've read the reviews and most of the Westinghouse models are crap as users say. High chance of breaking down in less than half a year.

Returned them the same day for a Vizio and was pleased more with the new Vizio.

I had one for a year... it would shut off randomly... Then the video card or something went out on it... and the picture looked pastel. Thank good for the best buy warranty... I got a new TV real quick(Sony).

Wouldn't buy a westinghouse or Dynex as mentioned above. Both are shitty IMO. I would take an old school zenith 13 inch before a 40 inch westinghouse

had a westinghouse

I hand tightened a screw into the back of it, the screws to mount it on the wall, just to see how deep they went so i didn't break anything when I was tightening the mount to it

got the bolt about halfway in and POOF, huge flash and some smoke. No idea what happened, but it went to ****.

Westinghouse sucks *****, but $299 for a 40inch is almost worth it

mixed reviews

I know there are many other tv's that have a better quality but for 300bux i think i'm going to get one. even if it only lasts me one year. just need something to hold me over for a little bit

My sister has a Vizio and it's "ok" Sometimes the sound doesnt come on. I have to turn on/off the tv a few times before the sound starts working again. And her tv is only 2 years old?...

I have a westinghouse computer monitor at work, about 20" or so, seems fine, picture isn't all that good though, not something I'd buy to watch tv or play games on

If you've got the money to throw away then by all means go for it!

But if you want quality, I'd shell out more than that on a more popular brand such as Vizio or Philips.

For twice that amount you'll be able to get a 42+" Sharp or Samsung or Sony or LG and never have to worry about ****.

Bought a 26" Westinghouse 720p 2 years ago on BF for that same price and it's been fine. It's on the wall in the bedroom. Sometimes dark/black scenes can be really hard to make out detail, but I'm pretty sure I've got some of the picture settings wacked out.

I keep the sound going to a separate amp and speakers, and use a DirecTV remote, so sound and remote are not an issue for me.
