Default REMOTE CAR STARTER: Illegal in your state? What do you think?

I found out use of remote starter for a vehicle is illegal in the state of Washington. It was on the news and this lady got ticketed for leaving the vehicle unattended. I guess the law states the person must start an engine inside the vehicle with a key...I forgot the whole statement but either way, she thought this was ridiculous.

Should it be illegal? Why or why not. I think it's useful if I had one but then again depending on the location of the vehicle, where it's situated, etc it may not be wise. Who knows some kid could be playing behind the car and the exhaust suffocates him Click the image to open in full size.

i have a remote starter installed on my accord, i think thats totally absurd if its illegal. If you have a manual, you're retarded if u leave ur car in gear and remote start it Click the image to open in full size.

absolutly not. remote starts are not unsafe at all. most people have this thought that if the car is remote started someone can steal it or accidently hurt themselfs. todays remote starts are safe to use, as well as safe for the car when installed correctly.

remote start is not illegal in FL...but leaving your car running while you are away from it is...also, if you have remote start and you see a cop....just turn it off

they can't prove that your car was running if you had the keys in your hand...

I've had a remote start in my 5spd car for many months with no problems. RULE #1 DON'T LEAVE THE CAR IN GEAR. No matter how much faulty wiring there is if the car is not in gear its not going anywhere. I've never had my car try and drive away or anything.
