How many miles until you have to replace them? Wouldn't it be better just to replace the whole muffler?

Yeah, might be easier to replace the entire unit. The muffler looks pretty old from that picture. So how often should they be replaced? My car is still kinda new, but the warranty is over now.

If your muffler bearings are going bad, you're going to want to replace your blinker fluid soon.
And if you're into performance, check out some cross drilled brake lines.
