Default How do you stop a crack from spreading in your windshield

my mom's vw's windshield has a small crack, it will be replaced sooner or later but the car's practically new and its a tiny hair line crack, how can we keep it from spreading in the meantime?

From living in the NW, from what I understand, what makes the window crack is a repeated process of the glass getting cold, then hot, then cold...etc. etc. Is it still small enough to take it to a rock chip repair place? As soon as it starts spider webbing I think it's done.

My cousin that works for a auto glass company says this stuff is where it's at. Click the image to open in full size. Click the image to open in full size.

They do the same for their customers that don't want to replace their whole windshields.
