I want to go play in the snow. How do I engage 4wd in my 03 xterra? I live in SF so I have never had to use it.

ThatRicerDaniel, eh? If you put a wing and some 26" rims on your Xterra it gives it 4WD.

I have a frontier and it should be the same. If your using the NORMAL driving 4wd for snow and what not you can just put it in while driving under 25 MPH. But if your using HARDCORE 4wd for goin to mess around you gotta stop the vehicle and then shift it to the hardcore 4wd mode. I have a manual so it might be different

EDIT: put your Xterra in neutral when shifting the 4WD stick

ha. ha. ha!
commonly referred to as "high range 4wd" and "low range 4wd" But I bet you could convince nissan to put "HARDCORE MODE" instead of "4x4 LOW"
