Dude, don't use that ****. It eats away the tire and the rim.

You can get a patching kit for less than $10 and fix it with an insert patch which will work a whole lot better.

I think it's only ment for temp use untill you can get a new tire. I have no idea how long it's suposed to last.

No it's not. You need to go and get a patch kit and do it right.

Trust me, I have been through this until somebody finally clued me in and told me not to use that spray can crap. Patching a tire is easy and cheapier than the fix-a-flat by quite a bit. Only takes about 45 seconds, and you're done.

Fix a flat is only a temporary solution. it is NOT safe for going on a trip. As far as it eating away at your tire, that isn't true. What DOES eat away at your tire, is when you put fix a flat in it and it gets low and you start to drive on it with low air pressure the rim eats up the inner sidewall of the tire and it could cause a blowout. As far as those plug kits you buy at gas stations, those leak all the time. Once again, only temporary solutions. Your best bet is to just go to a tire place and get it patched from the inside.

good luck, and have a good trip Click the image to open in full size.

I wil chime in with my agreement. I would never use that fix a flat. If its a small hole it can be patched permanently for about the same price as a can of that stuff. I would get a new tire or patchthe hole the right way.

Sorry, I have to say you're wrong. I've seen it first hand learning the hardway. It will eat your rims and your tires. Pontiac Firebird Formula steel rims eaten away by fix-a-flat, and the rubber all in the inside of the tire looked like it had a low-grade acid on it for a few days. I'm telling you the stuff WILL eat your tires and rims. Maybe not all types or brands, but the one I used DID.

Have fun on the trip bro, and get a new tire! Click the image to open in full size.

Ate away the tires and rim on a old friends car, he ended up dying because he refused to spend the money for a new tire.

Just like everybody else said, fix a flat is temp only. Lets you limp home.

I read a few years ago (from a reputable source) that some fix a flat stuff was flammable and when sometimes while the garage was patching the tire, a small explosion was set off. Chk the side of the can to see if it has any corresponding warnings.

I work at Just Tires and i've never seen any corrosion on rims as a result of fix a flat.

But that's straying from the point, the point is, get your ish fixed!!

i had fix-a-flat in one of my beater's tires for over a year without a problem....but i would still suggest getting the tires patched.

I used Fix-A-Flat on one of my tires and although I didn't get any corrosion like some of the others have experienced, it caused my wheel to go out of balance. Click the image to open in full size.

dont chance driving on a long trip like that fix tie tire the right way

it doesent nessarly eat away the tire but it is liquid and that mixed in a tire that has a metal rim will tend to rust and i have seen this first hand

at our shop we charge more to dismount a tire with fix a flat or slime in it because it just makes a mess of our shop

i dont have a spare, just a can of fix a flat. Click the image to open in full size.

So when i had some 17's i got a flat and it saved me. The fix a flat is still in the tire today and it works fine just rides a little off balance. So i traded the wheels anyway, so the fix a flat is no longer my problem. But it is great fix it you got no spare or a motorcycle. Worth the $5, but a regular fix or new tire is obviously better. just get a new tire. i got rims and new tires last month, and then last week, somehow i got a screw in my driver side rear tire. brought it to americas tire company where i got the rims and tires, cost $27 to get a brand new tire mounted, balanced, and a new warrenty on that tire. best deal out there.

i have yokohama avs es100's, and each tire is 120 a piece. i would highly recommend getting tires where you can get a roadside warrenty, such as americas tire company.

Not worth risking your life over choosing to NOT carry a spare wheel + tire. Not worth the minimal benefit of weight reduction either. Rally cars are fully stripped and frequently get flat tires, they ALWAYS carry spares. Never seen them use a "fix-a-flat".

Don't rally cars carry more than one spare sometimes? About the fix a flat, I used it for a long time on my old car, but I wouldn't do it again. The can says it's for temp use only, so....

O.T. Yeah I think they sometimes do carry more than one spare with them. I should too since mine are all unidirectional.
