Default Fast Food Sauce packets.. Do they expire?

I was thinking about this when i was eating my Del taco.. I know some off you guys save your extra Hot sauce and ketchup packets from local fast food Joints. I have never seen a condiment packet with a expiration date on it. Do you think they will go bad over time or would you still use one from a couple months ago?

just a thought..

mcdonalds has dates on the ketchup, it's usually about 6months to a year ahead of when you get it. You should be good Click the image to open in full size.

I can tell Click the image to open in full size.

Seriously, that stuff is good for around a year. Just look at your normal ketchup and hot sauce bottles around the house.

who cares if it expires... either way it ain't healthy.

but seriously, it doesn't matter. we have packets of ketchup and soy sauce that's atleast 5 years old in our fridge and it's still perfectly fine Click the image to open in full size.

we have large containers of sweet and sour sauce, and when it gets hard and chunky i just pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds, stir it with a spoon and it's good as new.

It is funny you say that. I had the old Taco Bell packets with the brown/maroon colors in the fridge from YEARS ago and they were still good.

In Earthbound, the condiment packets never expired, so I would have to say no.

i have had some of the same sauces in my fridge for a long time. i would think they are bad if they start to dry up or the consistency is different.

Those packets are what the food industry refers to as shelf stable items. They should last for at least a year (in most cases more). That means they don't require refridgeration (during either transport or storage).

Josh <-- works for a specialty foods company.

(Our mustards have a shelf life of 1.5 years w/o refridgeration)
