The SU-27 Click the image to open in full size. is superior to the MiG, but he Raptor is easily the most advanced fighter jet in existence. They SAY they're not commissioned or flying combat yet, but I take it from a very reliable source there were several at Rammstein flying over Afghanistan last year... As well as a few other things we don't "officially" have.

Exactly. The U.S. has stuff now that we will find out about 10 years from now.

I doubt you will ever find out, as Iraq seems hesitant to actually put their planes in the air anymore...

The SR 71 was commissioned in 1963, and we didn't find out about it until the late 70s. The F117 had been flying since the early 80s, and we didn't find out about it until the late 80s, early 90s.

The other one was TOO BIG!!! Here's the link, and some specs on the SU 27 Flanker. The SU 35 and 37 are the current variations with thrust vectoring...

F117 Nighthawk
First prototype fley in 78. The Wobbly Goblin! The fly by wire system was a little Click the image to open in full size. so it got a reputation of being dangerous and hard to land.
It uses OLD stealth technology (faceted surface) rather than constant curvature, which is how the F22 was designed. That is far more effective, and is also more aerodynamically stable.

From what i hear there is no comparison between the two.. the F-22 beats the mig hands down. It can manuever like no other plane out there to date.. its very fast, has stealth technology which shrinks the plane to the size of a tennis ball on radar, carries a hefty payload along with a hefty price tag.. lol.. The F-117 was created out of the Have Blue Project. The Air Force was exploring the idea of lowering the radar cross section of an aircraft. What Lockheed-Martin's Skunk Works came up with, was amazing. Not only did it reduce the cross section, it made it virtually invisiable (about the size of a small bird). It was Classified TOP SECRET, and BLACK.

I got to see one at the Reno Air Races in 1995 Click the image to open in full size.

American air superiority scares even the chinese. They have the largest airforce in the world they outnumber our planes 2 to 1 but I would bet they wouldn't want to take us on in an air battle any time soon.

I remember one story - The skunk works team was demonstrating the test model to air force brass. They had a 1/4 scale model out int he desert, and were hitting it with radar, but nothing was showing up. The AF thought the radar was screwed up, and were about to leave, when a blackbird landed on the model.
AF brass - "Oh, there it is. Yeah, it's barely there. Good work. Go ahead."

The Mig-29 is outclassed by our previous generation of fighters (F-15's and F-16's).

One F-22 should be good for 5 to 10 MIG-29s.

Make no mistake, before the release of the F-22, the Su-27/Mig-29 were easily the most dangerous planes in the air next to the F-16..

Yea outnumbering is 'ok', but realisticaly, the only thing the USAF is interested in is kill ratio, and if I'm not mistaken, the F16 has something like a 5:1 or 7:1 KR (USAF F16's).. pretty sick! Click the image to open in full size.
