Default Do alarm window stickers work in detering thieves if you don't actually have an alarm?

Also, which sticker should I get...Clifford, Viper, Toad? I'll probably go with the sticker and use THE CLUB.

You're probably better off just wiring up an LED than a stupid decal.

True, since u can buy the stickers by themselves. It's a weak method of theft deterrent but I guess it COULD only be helpful in conjunction with other anti-theft devices.

Wow, hold up DrMartin! Bad day driving the school bus? I live in downtown DC (a large city) and park my car in heavily populated areas along the street. Where I live, car alarms definitely stop thieves. Basically a thief does not want a loud alarm blaring as he tries to rip out your stereo (remember...heavily populated, lots of people around to hear and see). Where I live thieves look for stickers and blinking LED's before they break into cars so as to avoid the attention of a blaring car alarm. I've walked by many cars being vandalized and none of them have had a blaring alarm. I don't think you would make a good thief. BTW, did you buy your car alarm so that you could have two pagers and look even cooler in your played out Doc Martin boots and half-exposed Joe Boxer briefs. I can here you now..."ughhhhhghghghghaaaaa." Please make your way back to the zoo.

To be perfectly honest, it seems to me the best approach is to have the alarm, but no sticker. If a thief (a good one) sees an alarm sticker, it not only tells him that there is something worth stealing in that car, but it allows him to prepare for the alarm. Not having a sticker and hiding the LED, will surprise a potential thief. Just my opinion.

Isn't the point to not have them break into the car rather than have them scared off when they do break into the car?

Werd. For god's sake..an alarm really is'nt that expensive to have installed. Is the extra 200 dollars realy to much to put twoars a thousands of dollar's investment that you made in your car??

If you were a thief, and you broke into a car expecting nothing, and an alarm went off, wouldn't you run? I know I would. Plus, many thieves, including a couple I know (and both are currently in jail, stupid *******), target cars with alarm systems. To them, its telling them there is something worth stealing in that car.

I would much rather pay for a broken window and maybe some CD's, than have that loss, pluss my head unit and whatever else they could take from my car.

Well, we have ADT stickers on my house and don't actually own an ADT system, and we haven't had one break-in yet.

However, no ADT stickers on the garage, and $2000 worth of **** comes up missing.

If it works for a house, don't see why it wouldn't work for a car, worth a shot at least.

Well, an alarm is like a chain: It's only as as strong as it's weakest link and with an alarm the weak link is the actual install. I personally would not trust a shop to do my alarm system because they probably treat every car the same and lay wires in mostly the same places as every other shop does. When I do get an alarm, I'm probably going to give my self a full week to install it myself. I am going to remove all the seats, carpet, and dash and make sure the install is the best it possibly can be.

I actually did the "hide the LED" and all that. Sure it's a good Idea, but only if you're near your car where YOU will hear it and come out the front door bustin' your pee shooters.

Sure, the potential theif didn't know I had an alarm, so he made a go at it. Maybe the LED would have saved me $70 and window. But yeah, I think a sticker could work as a deterent, but of course it's not going to stop everyone.

did you hear that?

YOU NEVER PUT THE STICKER OF YOUR ALARM ON YOUR CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you ALWAYS put the sticker of an alarm completely different then the alarm that you have on your car. That way when they get into the car they are expecting the wrong things and use the wrong tools.
