First thing I would do would be to call them to verify if its the real deal and not a scam.

I process all kinds of garnishments and deductions for a payroll company. You more than likely got something that was from one of these 2 addresses....

PO BOX 942867
SACRAMENTO, CA 94267

OR

PO BOX 1237
RANCHO CORDOVA, CA 95741.

Your best bet is to contact them at 916-845-7044 and talk to them.
I talk to them almost every day...they are really nice people over there and don't play the "usual" collections role. As far as why you are being charged the funds, that would be something they can explain to you. Again, they're nice there; but if you're rude, they wont hesitate to make your life hell.

Call them asap because they will more than likely be sending a notice to withhold money from your paycheck to your employer pretty soon....If you do owe the money, they are very reasonable on making payment arrangements. Typically its 25% of your disposable wages but you have to earn a certain amount before they can take depending on the frequency of how you are paid. I have seen garnishments from the Franchise Tax Board as low as $25 a paycheck.

Just my experience..... Click the image to open in full size.

thanks for your advice, i'll give them a call.. it's just odd that they'd send me something even though i had $0.00 of income within my 4 years of schooling.

Yeah, you definitely don't need to file if that's the case. Sounds a little fishy to me, but you never know.

They mail me **** to pay off my parking tickets from a CRX I sold 5 years ago. Someone even did insurance fraud in the car after I sold it. They never registered it. Luckily a government worker vouched for me. Cleared everything up.

Sounds like something from the Franchise Tax Board - Vehicle Registration Collections department. I had the same thing...except I totalled a car and had it sent to the junkyard. 2 years later they tried to get me to pay the registration from when I crashed it till the day I got the notice in the mail.....called them and got it cleared up as well.
