Default 94 Ford Explorer Stereo wiring diagram please

i have a pioneer i wanna install into my 94 ford explorer but im having trouble with it. searched google, yahoo...all gave me no info (i swear!). if anyone here KNOWS the color for each speaker or know where I can definitely find the answers, please let me know. NONE of the 8 speaker wires match in colors (ie: white and white/black, grey and grey/black). i bought a harness from BestBuy AND Walmart and for some reason they dont work. so I have to cut the harness from the truck off and splice them. please dont post if ur gonna start a Chevy VS Ford thread. and like always, thanx for ur answers!

both the walmart and bestbuy harness came with two ALMOST identical harness, one for the power and stuff and one for the speaker wires. the one for speaker wires dont fit the OEM ford explorer harness because the OEM one is square-ish shape and the walmart/bestbuy harness is long rectangle shape. do u remember what ur circuit city harness looked like?

i worked in the install shop at a circuit city for almost 2 years and i know that early 90 fords are tricky when it comes to getting the right harness.. if i were you i would just drive up there, shop the install guy what plugs u have behind the radio and have him get you the right harness.. alot of older fords needed a converter harness that was a little more expensive then the standard harness that is needed with other fords. i do not remember the model numbers but i believe the amplifer harness was about 40 bux.. hope that helps..

but remember, dont go cutting wires cause that will only make your job tougher to install it and later on if you ever sell the car and want to put the factory radio back in

You should be able to find a Ford wiring harness anywhere (Wal-Mart for example) and I'm not totally sure if the 94 is factory amplified so try popping the speakers with a 9 volt battery before you wire everything up. If they don't pop you need a amplifier bypass harness and the amp is in the pass side rear plastic panel.

i have a jbl system [originally from ford] with the amps and subs and i am using a regular harness and running the alpine door speakers off the stock amp and my jl audio 10 off the original subs amp. idk, it's been working fine for me for 2 years.

if the speaker plug is grey and square its the amplified system. you have to get the right piece then pull the rear quarter trim off and bypass the amp back there.

you can use the metra 70-5511 and use the factory amp.
