Default 99 Civic EX - Tires Rubbing - Noob Alert

Hey all

99 Civic EX
H&R Sport Springs
Stock Struts (for now)

Advan Replica Wheels
195/55r16 Dunlop Sport 7000 a/s (came with wheels :/)

The tires rub. Took out plastic inner fender dealio. Rolled inside of fenders a little and it's a lot better but it still rubs.

Might buy these for the front: http://madison.craigslist.org/pts/3957257174.html

You think that'll resolve it? Or is there a better option ?

If the wheels are around 7in wide, go 205/45/16. That is the optimal size for your car. It will keep the overall diameter very close to your stock wheels, so your speedometer will read accurately. And you shouldn't have any rubbing with that size.

BS stock shocks on lowering springs. That's your problem.

Oh so you're telling me that NO WHEEL WILL FIT? Sorry Marc, you're wrong.

Anyone else? This is a wheel fitment question, not looking for advice about suspension.

your tires are too tall, end of story. 205-45-16. that wheel doesn't really look like a 40 offset wheel to me.

marc isn't really wrong. stock shocks aren't helping your cause.

It's obvious that stock shocks aren't helping.

Koni's will be in the picture soon enough, but I need to wheels to fit for now.

Koni's installed. Tires still rubbing.

Thanks to all of you with legitimate answers.

I might just trade the wheels for some 15s

raise the car up. i have had MANY sets of wheels from +50 through +32 (mist being 15") but non the less with PROPER ride height you will not have ANY issues with rubbing. tire size will help alot as well.

Why not just get properly sized tires? 205/45/16s will fit fine with absolutely no issue.

We just installed my brother's Koni/GCs on his Civic this week. He's on 16x7 +40 Rota Slipstreams with 205/45/16 Nitto NeoGens. Fender liners still intact. Absolutely no rubbing.

Thanks for pics 1996accordlx that is super helpful. The fitment looks good.

I still may try to find some 15s because the tires are cheaper from what I hear. If I don't find some soon I will just get some new rubber.

Yes 205/45 will fit you with no rubbing. Another thing is also your offset wheels....from the picture your wheel doesn't look like it's 40, it looks like lower than that.
