Cracked volk wheel repairable?
#1
Cracked two of my te37's at the lip. Do y'all recommend anywhere to send them to, to fix? I have a few wheels shops around here but i've had past friends take forged wheels there and the wheels ended up cracking shortly after. My understanding is that there wasn't enough heat required for the weld to penetrate.
Suggestions on what to do and where to send?
Also, how do i know if the wheels are made of magnesium or aluminum?

Re: Cracked volk wheel repairable?
The fact that you cracked the lips, leads me to think that they're not magnesium alloy (as that would tend to bend more so then the aluminum alloy). As for repairing them, you're never going to get as much strength as the original wheel had. You can get great results, but never 100%. Depending on if you want to ship the wheels, I'd say there are tons of options.

Re: Cracked volk wheel repairable?
one wheel started the crack right at the lip before it goes 90* which is maybe a quarter inch. then the other wheel has about an inch and a half crack that goes in towards the hub.
the wheels were produced in the early 2000's, So i'm thinking they're aluminum?, I understand once something cracks it's never as strong as before. but if they are infact aluminum, then just about any wheel shop would be able to repair them, correct?
