Default Tig welding 3/8" cast aluminum?

I have a sub woofer that has a cast aluminum basket or frame. It got dropped and a piece of it it cracked. Is is possible to TIG weld cast aluminum this thick? Its about 1/4" thick. And how much would be a reasonable charge for this job?

yes you can, as long as you can strip it down to just the frame it self. it will get WAY to hot and destroy the speaker. also, really prep it before welding it. id JB weld that

How did the basket break like that? What kind of sub is it? I'd probably want more than it's worth to weld it back together.

Maybe Im not understanding the directions for JB weld. Every time I have ever used JB weld its completely useless. I don't know but JB weld really sucks for me.

I used some metal weld from harbor freight to fill in gouges in some wheels and that stuff work great. It had insane adhesion. I might try some of it.

Never had anything but great results with jb weld. When I was 14 I jb welded my bov on to my civic ic piping. Steel pipe, aluminum flange lol... made 300 whp and never had a problem that... was... back in the day
