tig - electrode and filler size 16 gauge mild steel
what electrode and filler size is best for 16 gauge mild steel. I tried 1/16 tungsten and only had 3/32 filler and that wasn't so pretty. I will get smaller filler and could try a .040 tungsten but I want to ask those with experience before I go out an buy much.
Thanks - Chad

the 1/16 tungsten is fine, you want to go smaller on the filler though. I use 0.045 for 16ga.

ya i like the oh45 filler on 16g too.
As long as the tungsten is sharp I dont really see any difference with the tungsten diameter though, unless it cant take the amperage. I have been using 1/8" on everything (18g SS to 1/4" aluminum) lately and i dont see any change except that I dont have to swap sizes so often. I suppose if you run a really small cup and a big tungsten it might affect gas coverage. Maybe i'm missing something too. it's happened before
