Default exhaust pipe expander

hey guys i dont know what it is called exactly but when people make slip on style exhaust pieces they have to expand or stretch it open on the one end... other then an expensive *** hydraulic machine are there any places that sell anything that can do this for you..thanks for the help guys

yes thank you...anyone know where they sell a tool to expand it like that? other then an expensive *** hydraulic machine?

The hydraulic expander is the only way. The expanders with a bolt in the middle that you screw in won't work, at least on 16ga stuff. The cheapest new hydraulic ones go for under a 1K.

I think the guy that responded to you first is the same guy in your signature. And if he's not, my appologies to him.

autozone has one you can use via their "loan a tool" service like the one pictured above...that way if it sucks or it breaks you arent out anything

cool guys thanks for the info.... i dont have an autozone around here tho so i think i will just go for a HB one...even if it sucks it doesnt cost to much...thanks alot for the info guys

ive used the one from harbor freight and the one from the advanced loaner tool kit. if its a decent gauge steel pipe, you really arent goign to be able to expand the pipe much. ive even tried using an impact wrench with them, not good. ive learn to just use flanges. They cost more, but worth it in the long run

how are the hydraulic expanders any different to the hand expanders? the mechanism is the same so the results should be the same....so you'd think.
