Default Re-doing the spare tire bay. What gauge should I use?

Hey, so my Integra's spare tire compartment is pretty rusted out. I want to cut out the rusted parts and weld on a new piece of (shaped) metal. I found a post on another forum saying they used 18 gauge (on another Honda vehicle), but I figure I should ask here. What gauge metal is the spare tire compartment made out of? Or which gauge do you think I should use?

18ga will be fine. You could even use 16ga so its alittle easier to weld.
