Here's some pics of a custom turbo kit I've been working on at the shop. The motor is a B20/Vtec and the car is being built for the street tire class. We'll see how it dynos in a couple weeks. The customer really did his homework and picked out some nice parts. Anyways, here's some pics...

The downpipe is what the customer wanted, to keep it quiet on the street yet have the performance potential of an open downpipe. Priority of flow was given for the open downpipe. It also comes off at the first v-band and the rear flange and another piece goes in with a cat for inspections. The turbo is a T4 60-1. In test driving it, it's making 5psi by 2500rpms with the exhaust cutout closed, so running through 2.5" crush bent exhaust.

Sorry, i'm lazy, didn't feel like resizing the pics.

The floor is an epoxy coating from Sherwin Williams. It really makes the shop easy to clean, spills wipe right up and don't soak into the concrete anymore. Those pics kinda suck, i'll get some new ones next week.

looks really good. i like the custom precision intercooler a lot, any other close up shots of it? what material did you us for the end tanks?

The end tanks are the standard precision cast tanks from the 750hp core, but notched and welded on to fit between the oem framerails. The tubing welded on is 16ga (.065") aluminum and the tank is a good .200" or so cast.

so would welding cast aluminum to the aluminum tube be any differnt then welding two aluminum tubing together?

Alot of times cast doesn't weld as good as a good piece of 6061. Depends alot on the quality of the casting. The only thing big thing different than welding 2 tubes together is focusing the heat right since you have one piece .065" thick and one 3 times that.

i look forward to seeing the power figures produced, i'm thinking of using the same turbo for my ls/vtec

WOW, that new shop is VERY NICE

im in a predicament with my crx/750 intercooler install as well, at first i was gonna make a whole new end tank, but i might do something like this, seems alot easier. that car is real nice
