EK FOREVER GUY 2000 Civic hatch H2B And TONS MORE
It breaks my heart to sell this car as it was my first car and I've had it for 12 years. It was BONE STOCK with 90,000 miles on it when I bought it. So everything done to this car was done by me, or by Mainstream Performance (James Emmino) & EBTEC. He's the only person I let touch this car for anything beyond brakes and suspension which I did myself. This Civic is 100% done with no detail missed mechanically as this was built to be an ultimate Daily Driver and Autocross car. It has air conditioning. Far as I'm aware this was the first H2B Civic with Air conditioning at the time, uses a special adapter bracket to use a D-series compressor with an H -series alternator to allow it to run an H22 style serpentine belt so there is room on the frame rail side for the engine.
Engine:
- H23A Blue Top from a 2001 Accord SiR (Basically H22 motor with bigger crank and other goodies - Dual valve springs, better flowing head, factory polished intake, different valve angle)
- QSD H2B Adapter Kit
- Custom Built ITR Transmission ($2200) from Synchrotech
b16(ITR) 4.4FD Transmission w/
Master rebuild kit (with new sleeves)
new MFactory Limited slip differential
LS 5th gear
Full carbon synchros
new diff bearings
polished gears and cases
completely re-manufactured transmission
- Exedy Stage 1 Clutch with Fidanza 7.5lb flywheel
- Full overhaul done before engine was installed:
14400-P13-014 TIMING BELT
13405-PT0-004 BALANCE BELT
19200-P13-003 WATER PUMP
12341-P13-000 VALVE COVER GASKET
12342-PT2-000 X 4 SPARK PLUG TUBE SEALS (4)
91213-PR3-004 X 2 CAM SEALS
91212-P0A-004 FRONT MAIN / CRANK SEAL (93 TO 97 MODEL YEARS ONLY)
91212-PAA-A01 FRONT MAIN / CRANK SEAL (98 TO 01 MODEL YEARS ONLY)
91233-PT0-003 BALANCE SHAFT SEAL
15114-PT0-003 OIL DRIVE GEAR/PUMP SEAL
- Bronze Anodized Innovative mounts with 75a stiffness mounts
- KaizenSpeed Billet tensioner and balance shaft delete kit installed! (Removed a few pounds from the motion assembly)With the 7.5lb flywheel this car revs crazy fast. (easy rev matching for Autocross/Club Racing)
- 3" Aluminum intake with Velocity Stack
- 70mm OBX Throttle Body (Had skunk2 before but it would stick a lot)
- Logic Motorsports Tri-Y Stainless Header (best ground clearance and best performing header being dynotested at the time)
Custom 2.5" Exhaust with a Dynamax Super Turbo muffler (Quiet)
- 2.5" 300 cell vibrant catalytic converter
- Koyo All Aluminum Race Radiator with Slimfan stealth mounted on the Radiator
Tuned on Crome OBD1
Dyno Video:
206whp 160ft/lbtq on a 96 degree day with 2.2" muffler at the time. Never had it dynoed in better weather and with the completed 2.5" exhaust on it. With a set of Skunk2 Pro2 cams this car would easily make 220-230whp
Build thread on Honda-Tech

Sample video from Autocross Race when the engine was just put in:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4J1dAO24Td8&feature=youtu.be
Suspension:
- 15x7 Kosei K1 (For autocross this car needs to run a 15x8 with a 245 tire)
- 205/45/15 Kumho AST (Sold the Volks with Comp2's I had, this car really appreciates sticky tires)
- 12" S2000 Rotors on 4x100 Civic EX hubs
- 11" RSX Rear brake rotors with Integra Calipers and trailing arms (Rear disc conversion on steroids)
- 1" Master Cylinder and 4040 prop valve (Stops on a dime)
- Stainless Steel Braided Brake lines
- Custom Built AMR Engineering Race Coilovers ($1700) with 550lb front and 650lb rear rates. Shocks have a LIFETIME warranty through Andy at AMR. The suspension is adjustable and unlike Koni, Bilstein, Tein, Etc, you can ACTUALLY tell a difference when you adjust the stiffness on the suspension. On full stiff it is road course ready and handles like a DREAM but is miserable on the streets. Turned to full soft the car is actually quite bearable on the street. Tremendous difference.
- AMR Front and Rear Camber Kits
- 23mm Rear Swaybar (Progress)
- 26mm Front Swaybar (Si)
- Function7 Aluminum subframe brace (The best there is!)
Exterior:
- OEM Si Front lip
- Authentic OEM Civic Type-R Rear Bumper and Lip
- Spoon style Carbon fiber mirrors
- Custom built Retrofit Headlights from Retrofit Source (Done while I worked there)
Mini H1 6.0 with 5000k (White) bulbs. Best thing I ever did for the car. Visibility at night is insane. This setup is worth $500 easy. Custom paint, lenses.
- Bronze Window tint
Interior:
- Ep3 Seats on modified rails
- Skunk2 Shifter & ****
- Authentic Type-R Shift boot
- CRV Cluster (Orange)
I'm sure there are some parts I've missed. Even some minor changes here and there.
This car is my baby, but I'm simply too busy with work and two kids to really appreciate this car. With the right wheels and tires this car should run high 12's in the quarter and be a serious contender on the autocross course. I managed a couple of 1st place wins in the middle of the last season I raced it. For 2 years the car has been sitting with the occasional drive around town when I have time. Just got the car back from James Emmino at EBTEC for a full tuneup and inspection. Replaced intake manifold gasket and it runs like a champ. Weighs 2200lbs with me in it.
Pros:
Amazingly built with quality in mind. Zero corners cut. Look at the build thread, there is $7,500 tied up in JUST THE ENGINE in this car in just mods and the labor to have the car put in professionally and tuned. That doesn't include $1700 for the AMR Suspension and camber kits, wheels, seats, $500 tune, custom exhaust, etc.
Cons:
Needs paint
Steering wheel is peeling
Everything else is pretty typical of a 16 year old car. A fresh paint job and a steering wheel setup this car would be minty and not far off from magazine quality.
Since I had the swap done (2012), I've put maybe 30,000 miles on it all, 10,000 on the AMR Coilovers. I've daily driven a Honda Fit the last 2 years so this car never saw more than around town drives and about 22 Autocross events. Body has 170k on it.
I'm in no hurry to sell this car and I'm more than happy to wait for the right buyer. I'm sure I forgot some parts I'll update as I'm able and feel free to text with questions. I do not want to trade. Period.

Car has functioning Air Conditioning, interior is complete, though currently the rear seats aren't bolted in.
Thanks for the comments
I'm not interested in parting it out. Getting a lot of interest in the car and would like to sell it complete.
There's like 10-12k invested in this car, almost all of it mechanical. With some paint and a good set of tires this thing is a real beast Been thinking about getting it painted and keeping it, haha.

I grew up watching this car be built. The suspension is just as nasty as the engine setup. Love the car man.
