EJ1 D15 3-Stage VTEC TURBO $6800 ☼ 55+ MPG ☼
For sale is my super clean 1994 Honda Civic EX. The car is very unique due to the fact that achieves 55+ MPG while still making 230 HP at the wheels. The engine is a rare D15 3-Stage VTEC motor that utilizes three different valve timing variations:
Stage 1: 12 valve intake (VTEC-E)
Stage 2: 16 valve short duration intake (VTEC “Low-Cam”)
Stage 3: 16 valve long duration intake (VTEC “High-Cam”)
Maximum fuel economy is realized when the engine is operating in Stage 1 at low boost levels. I was able to average 68 MPG this past summer in Arizona, but the all time running average for the car is 54 MPG. The fuel economy largely depends on driving technique and habits.
Although the car was not designed to be fast, it does make 228 HP at 12 PSI of boost. The car was professionally tuned by Locash racing in Phoenix, and it has been my daily driver for over 9 months. Everything works fine (cruise control, pwr windows/mirrors, sunroof, ect...) and the car does have VERY COLD A/C! I am only selling to free up some garage space for a new project.
Please feel free to email me for specific pictures or with any technical questions about the car. Asking $6800.

Let me get this straight. You're putting down 200+ whp getting 50+MPG! You're either full of IT or really smart! I'll find investors, we will mass produce this design and create a new car company catering to the earth friendly speed freaks of the world. Have your people call my people!

Thanks for the positive feedback! I honestly did not expect people to understand the car, so I really appreciate the interest!
Haha, I am not that smart, Honda is! This motor is amazing, all of the VTEC-E motors are amazing. The technology to do 50+ MPG on pump gas has been available for over 15 years, I still wonder why there are not more people doing this type of build. It's fun and practical!

Bump simply because this is one of the most well setup Honda's out there!! Simple.
Koni/gc. Turbo. Traction rods. Spring loaded clamps. A/N fittings and SS lines. A CAT. The list goes on.
I am tired of the bling this, bling that. This is a proper daily. No unwanted attention attracted, Perfect!!
Bump for simplicity and proper parts!!
A few question, side mirrors?? And what type of hose are you using for the oiling for the turbo system (the orange hoses)??

The "orange hose" is just heat sleeve over a regular push lock line. I think most people call it "fire sleeve", it is available in many different diameters and can be used on a wire harness, brake lines, oil lines, coolant lines, ect...

I was wondering what ecu you are using, I didn't think any obd1 ecus were capable of controlling 3-stage vtec. Were you able to add vtec-e function and maps via your s300?
Don't mean to thread jack, but I have been contemplating a similar build for some time. PM me if you like

0-3300 RPM: The portion of the map that would normally control the "low-cam" valve operation in a standard Hondata VTEC program controls the engine in 12 valve (VTEC-E) mode.
3300-5250 RPM: Using the purge solenoid output and auxiliary nitrous map option in Hondata, the primary VTEC solenoid is engaged and the engine switches into to 16 valve low (low-cam VTEC). There is low resolution fuel and timing tuning available here through the nitrous map. *I also have the CEL shift light turn on here at 3300 RPM to let the driver know that the engine has switched out of VTEC-E*
5250-6800 RPM: With the primary VTEC solenoid still engaged, the regular "high-cam" portion of the program engages the secondary VTEC solenoid. Now both solenoids have +12V power and are open allowing oil to flow through them.
I think most people get mixed up with the wiring of the two separate solenoids, and the fact that both solenoids need to be engaged to get "high-cam" valve operation. If you take the valve cover off you can see that the "high-cam" rockers lock to the "low-cam" arms. If you only engage the "high-cam" solenoid the pins will still lock the arms, but since the "low-cam" arm is not engaged, the engine will still be running in VTEC-E or 12 valve.
Please just PM me if you have more specific questions. Hopefully I can answer them, or worst case just email you S300 maps and wiring diagrams so that you can get it running. I have multiple N/A and Turbo maps if you need them. Thanks!
