YS1 Transmission Questions... Help
ok so i came across a ys1 trans from an ls.. I have a crx with a jdm b16 with a s1 trans and was wondering if things like the clutch are interchangeable? My s1 b16 trans is cracked bad so i picked up this ys1 for pretty cheap... i was also told the ys1 can use all cable trans parts and hydro?????????? thats bullsh** right?
thanks in advance...
I know nothing of transmissions but im looking to learn

Re: YS1 Transmission Questions... Help
The YS1 swap requires a different clutch disc. Any disc from a 92-01 integra or b16 civic will work. The internals of the YS1 are also different from the S1 and are interchangable with the hydraulic trans. The S1,J1 and A1 from 89-91 are really becoming antique with oem parts getting discontinued and good used hard to come by. The synchros are also undersized and a weak point as well. The acceleration will suffer a bit with LS gearing but you will have a trans that is easily serviced and can easily have the gears swapped out. Good luck.

Re: YS1 Transmission Questions... Help
So the ys1 trans can use parts from hydro trannies and i could use my clutch from my s1 b16 trans as long as i swap the clutch disk? i read something last night about clutch release bearings but i was crazy tired so ill have to reread that when i get home from work... how bad will my acceleration suffer? probably pretty bad huh?

y1, s1,j1,a1 all have the small input shaft. the ys1 uses the larger input shaft. common with the later Hydro trans's. get the release bearing for the trans you are installing.

Re: YS1 Transmission Questions... Help
so my s1 clutch will work on my ys1 with a new clutch release bearing? Or since the spline is different i will need to purchase a new clutch? Also will the sensors from the s1 work on the ys1?
