99 civic ex problems
Ok, this my first time posting here. I just bought a 99 civic ex pretty cheap, first one i have ever bought. It has 173k miles on it and the person I bought it from said the maintenance was done as it should be and the car was good. The oil and everything looked good, it idled good and It looked like it had been well taken care of. I test drove it with him in a big city. As soon as we started to drive it was vibrating, shaking really, first thing I thought was motor mounts. The speed limit was 15 mph and there were cars every where so I couldn't get real fast. We then got on the interstate got it to 70 and it seemed like the higher the rpms the lesser the vibration. I think that's going to be an easy fix, kinda hard to pinpoint but should be fairly easy. Driving the car home I drove on the interstate for 2 hours at 70-80 mph with no problem, but after I got into my small city of less than 5k people I noticed that the faster you take off the less vibration, none really. If you go to fast the transmission acts like it studders going into 2nd shift. It bounces fast several times. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I've never even owner a 4 cylinder car. I've had camaros, mustangs, and trucks. Always a v8. My everyday driver has been a 97 dodge ram 1500 for the last several years, I bought the Honda for gas mileage. Idk if I said this, but the car is an automatic

Re: 99 civic ex problems
Upshifting issues would be the transmission...You can drive it until it gets worse or you can get one from a junk yard/ Craigslist... They are everywhere and go for 100-200, so for around 500 u should be able to get one and have it installed.

Re: 99 civic ex problems
Well I ordered engine mounts for mine. The engine doesn't seem to vibrate when it is throttled up. It vibrates some but no more then normal. I got my wife to sit in the car and switch gears in it and my motor moves several inches. I jacked the car up and I have a broke torque engine mount and the one on the driver side has no rubber where it should be and it's metal on metal. If changing those don't fix my problem I don't know what will. I think when it felt like it shifted hard the motor was slamming around under the hood. I will report back when I get them changed incase someone else has this problem
