im working on a b16 s1 an dim lost i dont know what goes where and in what order i seen the sticky with the rebuild by hondabull but i dont know what some of the things are called. ive put the 3rd gear on the mainshaft the counter wasnt taken apart completely it only needs 4th and up put on, im having trouble with which gear is which

If you're not comfortable after viewing HondaBull's How-to and the Helm's manual, I suggest taking/shipping it to a shop that specializes in Honda transmissions (Gearspeed, Synchrotech, Whoopee Doo Racing, in alphabetical order).

never thought of that, the order everything goes in is what i dont see anywhere and i dont remember exactly.

First off, here is a teeth count on all of the gears for a b16 s1, countershaft and mainshaft. This should help you figure out which gears go where.

90-91 S1 B16
Mainshaft/ Countershaft
1st-12/ 1st-39
2nd-19/ 2nd-39
3rd-24/ 3rd-34
4th-29/ 4th-32
5th-32/ 5th-29
Final Drive: 66/15=4.4

1st- 3.25
2nd-2.052
3rd-1.416
4th-1.103
5th-0.906


On the countershaft, you still need 4th gear, 5th gear, bearing, snap ring bearing with the groove for the snap ring facing the top of the shaft, washer, then countershaft nut.

On the mainshaft you still need 4th gear with dog teeth facing down, needle bearing inside 4th gear, bearing collar slid down inside the roller bearing, a needle bearing on the collar that is now sticking out of 4th gear, 5th gear over the needle bearing with dog teeth facing up, 5th gear synchro ring with synchro spring, 5/r hub, 5/r sleeve( the side of the sleeve that looks in better shape is the reverse side and faces up), reverse synchro, bearing, the next piece I don't even know how to describe, then its the big mainshaft bearing on top.

Dog teeth are on the actual gears that have a synchro... they face the synchro.The gears thst spin freely are the ones that have a synchro on them. The collar is the cylinder shaped double sided thingy thst the needle bearings slide over.

So 1st gear counter shaft, 2nd gear countershaft, 3rd gear mainshaft, 4th gesr mainshaft, and 5th gear mainshaft will all have a synchro, dog teeth on the actual gear, and all will spin freely
