Can you move the shifter into the Reverse position? Or does it not go back past the Neutral position?

Does it try to engage but just grind?

Does it engage but you literally don't move when letting the clutch out?

Well it wants to go but feels like it is hitting a wall. I took the sfift linkage off snd it still wont go into reverse. All other gears are butter. How hard is it to replace the 5th/reverse sleeve and syncro shift fork etc..?

What is the history on the transmission?

Was/is it ever run low on fluid?

For an experienced mechanic, its not bad. Just requires some attention to detail.

I'd say the 5th gear teeth of the 5/R sleeve are worn/burred over enough and dragging on the hub causing it to not want to slide into Reverse. Could be wrong. Maybe the reverse synchro is seized to the reverse cone and hub, and out of alignment with how the sleeve would travel up. Won't know until it's opened up. I would say the 5/R stuff is the easiest to replace as you don't necessarily even have to remove the gear stacks from the transmission to do surgery on them. Of course, I would still look EVERYTHING over while you're in it.
