B16 cable with ls5th gear. hard to find 5th
Hello all,
I have an ef hatch with an lsvtec attached to a b16 cable transmission with an ls 5th gear. for years there were no issues and as of recently with more aggressive racing and driving mainly from 1st-3rd gear and if drag racing into 4th on the track. it is hard to find 5th sometimes. it feels like im pushing the shifter at its limits to find the gear and it usually takes multiple trys. it does not feel like the syncro is keeping me out and once I find it it is fully engaged and doesn't pop out.
Im thinking I may have a bad shift change selector... lust looking for other opinions.
one last little bit of info. im going boosted and before I go dump more money into a limited slip diff, better suited clutch, and possibly a new shift change selector is there any disadvantage with staying with a cable transmission. im sure this is a repost of sorts, feel free to redirect me

Re: B16 cable with ls5th gear. hard to find 5th
If u going turbo then this current transmission won't work no more so I would ride this one until u A. Break it or B. Go boost
Why dump money into this one when u can use that cash for a gsr or ls transmission

If you are "ramming" the shift piece, you have just pointed to the problem remove and inspect the shift piece, and the rest of the gearbox while you at it.
If you can't get a gear, forcing it in or trying to is the worst thing you can do for your wallet. Every mechanical component has its limits.
