axle problems for 05 Accord
I've been having this problem where when I accelerate in 2nd gear my car vibrates. I don't really notice it in 3rd gear. The Honda mechanics have replaced my passenger side axle twice now because of play in the axle and fortunately I haven't had to pay for it since it's under warranty. The last time they replaced it the vibration went away for about 2 days and now it's back. I'm getting frustrated because I feel like they aren't fixing the real problem. Does anyone know what could be causing this to happen? Are they using cheap parts?

Ensure your engine mounts are in good condition, the V6 models are notorious for the front mount going bad, producing a band and/or shudder on acceleration. The movement in the engine/transaxle will put the axle at a poor angle, wearing it out, or producing vibration.
Worn out suspension bushings in the front can also cause this, and is a major proponent of torque steer on vehicles with equal drive shafts, among other problems.
Axles have to have some degree of slack or else it would bind up, the inner plunge joint will have slight movement even when new. A bad axle inner joint will bang when shifting gears, and the outer will clank or "click".

Re: axle problems for 05 Accord
Hello, I had the same problem. The front end of my 2005 Honda Accord would violently shake between 40 and 60 mph when I let off the gas the car would stop shaking... The dealership quoted between $700-$800... I had new tires put on, wheels balanced twice, alignment then finally took it to a shop who specialized in Hondas and Acuras only... Turns out it was both axels that needed to be replaced it ended up costing me $408. I've had the car about 2 weeks it's been fine. I was told Motormounts need to be replaced though.... seems to be an issue with Hondas. Good luck.
