Ways to identify if your trans is a b16 or gsr
Bense, if you would like to add this to your trans topic, it would be great.
Thanks to David from synchrotech the genius of trannies. Heres info that can really help.
I have alot of customers ask, i need a lsd but cant tell if its a b16/ls or gsr cause the sticker is ripped off.
3 ways to confirm.
#1 your ring gear. The big hole where the diff fits into. The measurements are close but different. B16 is 116.8 mm and the gsr will measure 119.8. edge to edge
#2 your ring gear face. along the oem ring gear face they both have id lines that run around on the teeth. If it has 2 id lines one top and one bottom its a B16, if it has 1 id line in the middle its a gsr.
#3 stock oem 3rd gear on the main shaft, count the teeth and double count cause they are only 1 off to differentiate the 2. If you count 24 teeth on the main shaft 3rd gear its a B16, if you have 25 teeth than its a gsr.
Hope this helps everyone.
