Default when I rev to 2k rpm it drops to almost to 0k, but if I rev to 3k it will stay?

I just swapped the motor/tranny and this is my first time working with a light weight flywheel and 6 puck clutch. The problem is very annoying, when I rev the engine to let go of the clutch, I have to rev it to around 3k. If I rev it to 2k then the rpm will just suddenly drop for no reason to almost 0 rpm the shoot back up to 2k. I dont think this has anything to do with the clutch since my problems occur when the clutch is pressed in.

Has anyone had this problem before?

Please help.

Thanks,
Nick

it could probably be the ignitor inside the distributor. it happens to alot of people...
sometimes the tach would be very unstable and erratic at a point and then fine past that point. maybe theres some way to check it i dont know. anyone else?

edit:
sorry about that...i wasn't thinking about your situation correctly. since it only happens when the clutch is in, i have no idea.

What is the weight of the flywheel you chose? The lighter you make that rotating assembly the faster it is going to drop engine RPMs between shifts because there is now less available momentum...you might just have to get accustomed to driving with the flywheel in there.

agreed, is this an extremely lightened flywheel? because i have never heard of it being that harsh
