what will happen if the old tin foil on O2 sensor trick fails?
Will I just get a CEL or will car go into limp mode?
I have a 98 ITR (OBDII), and I am talking about the O2 sensor in the cat. I've read that you can just pull it out and cover it with tin foil (actually aluminium foil) if you want to run a test pipe. I want to pull it out and try it before I get rid of my cat, but I need to know how serious it will be if the trick fails. Thanks for any info.

not serious at all. not limp mode as far as I know...it wil be driveable. hondas ecu is so lazy at detecting it anyway, takes supposeldy 2 trips to trigger, but ive seen longer. At any rate, if you get a light, reset the ecu and put the o2 sensor back in the exhaust. Why dont you sut convert to obd1?
