Vtec lag on B18c1
I recently rebuilt my 1995 gsr motor with the following: Jdm itr standard pistons, honda rings, new oem bearings, type r oil pump, oem water pump, new front and rear seals, oem head gasket, skunk2 stage2 cams, skunk2 valves, springs, retainers, adjustible cams gears, hondata intake manifold gastket. Orininal mods: skunk2 intake manifold, I,H,E, Apexi VAFC (tuned to original mods).
Now, im curently breaking it in and understand that i need to dyno tune.
Motor pulls hard up to 5100rpm(vtec xover) then lags real bad. Could running to lean cause it to do this?? I'm running obd1 stock gsr ecu. Should i get new ecu before tuning. what is causing this problem.
Also there is a little blue smoke coming from the exhaust. is this normal for a rebuilt motor??

If anything like my rebuild you should change your VTEC x point to 5800-6000. The blue smoke is cause you are running rich. But certainly dyno tune as soon as you get a chance, and may I recommend you move up to a tuneable chip (CROME, Hondata, etc.) then use the V-AFC for track side adjustments. The Tuneable ECU route lets you be more RPM specific when tuning to maximize your gains.
