yea at like 4800 the car should just come alive, then at 5700 it should get alot louder.

I know vtec engages at those two points but wounldn't any engine become alive and get louder as you rev up the engine?

vtec doesnt engage at those two points, at 4400rpm vtec engages then at 6000rpm the seconadry inlet runners in the inlet manifold open, there should be a noticeable difference in noise, as when vtec engages the valves lift higher for longer duration taking in more air and letting out more burnt gases, plus youy will have greater induction noise as the engine requires more/greater amount of air to match the increased fuel flow, and at 6k rpm when the secondaries open again more air is flowed thru the inlet manifold, on my car the secondaries are louder than the vtec

On my car...the vtec crossover is much more noticeable in sound then when the secondaries open up. However, the pull when the secondaries open is greater.

all i hear on my B16A2 DOHC Vtec when the vtec kicks in is a way louder noise like a powerband as they call the vtec. ( i said that kind of gay) but anyway i only notice one difference in sound and power but you guys are talking about two different things i should experience, is anything wrong?? and although we are talking about a gsr which is a DOHC Vtec i just wanted to add that in a SOHC Vtec you can't hear the Vtec kick in at all, at least in a 95 civic ex i couldn't hear a damn thing.

b16s don't have the dual stage intake manifold as opposed to a gsr. That is why ur not experiencing the two differences. And yea, I used to have a 98civic EX...and vtec is barely heard...if heard at all.
