Valve clearance questions
Hi Guys! Just wanted to ask:
What are the effects if you have the same valve clearance for intake and exhaust? Both are at .008". I read that exhaust should be at around .009 to .011.
I did notice that fuel consumption went higher, but it could have been just the ECU relearning. Power seems the same.
Any thoughts?
I drive a 93 Civic, D16A7.
Thanks!

Re: Valve clearance questions
Worst case scenario, you burn an exhaust valve due to not seating properly. Not likely at .001" too tight, but there's no good reason I can think of for the average Joe to do that.

Re: Valve clearance questions
Early ITR cams, PEP stainless steel swirl polished valves, supertech titanium retainers, steel spring seats, and turbo valve springs. but I did them same thing with stock b16 valvetrain. its on the loose end of the range for the intake and the tight side of the exhaust but both are in the range.

I meant the tight side of the range of the factory spec so .007 instead of .008 Loose exhaust valves like to burn. Its been 3 years turbocharged and 1 year before running .007 and .007. I think they were a little tighter then .007 to sink into the head.
