Trannies with worn holes???
My tranny alley:
I bought a couple used trannies real cheap because I'm doing a manual swap
On both of them, the main shafts bearings were busted.
***How do I get the race (sp?) out of the transmission housing w/o jackin somethin up?***(main question)***
Is the diff still good, w/ all tha rust???
Should I get new diff bearings also??? How do I tell?
Should I use anything special to clean it all up, or will brake or carb spray work?
Anything else???
Should I replace the bearing in the DX tranny and sell it?

Re: Trannies with worn holes??? (69NOSAJ)
Re-install the inner race and as many of the ball bearings as you can. Wedge paper between the bearings or epoxy the bearings evenly spaced around the inner race. Knock out the bearing from the cluth bell housing side using a hammer and a 9"+ extension.
You can spin the diff bearings and if they make a lot of gritty noises when spinning them or there is excessive axial or radial play, then replace them.
Use brake parts cleaner and scotch-brite pads to clean the casing seams and dish soap/hot water to wash out the casings after you've stripped them down and cleaned the seams.

Re: (69NOSAJ)
Just get a small bearing puller. You may need to machine the lips a little smaller...it will come in handy! Looks like two little legs awith a lip to grab on the bearing...Looks similar to this but, with a slide hammer section like a dent puller

I got the race (sp?) out by welding a bolt to it and tapping it out.
I ordered a new seals and a new input shaft bearing, and hope it all goes well w/ the install. This is the first time I've messed w/ a tranny. (hahaha) It's pretty straight fwd. Are there any tricks or special instructions???
