Timing tensioner bolt hole stripped
Well a guy i knows wonderful integra strikes again. This time...his tensioner had came loose and we went to set everything back and tighten up the tensioner and it come to find out the hole is stripped. What is the easiest way to attack accessing that hole without completely removing everything. I figure removing the rear mount bracket and the driver side mount will get it either up or down enough to access the hole without disconnecting everything under the sun. What is the best way to fix it...is there a helicoil kit for that hole? Timesert?
Whats the thread pitch?

I had the same issue like a year ago. I dropped the motor to the floor to helicoil the tensioner bolt. It was the only way to access the tensioner bolt hole.

Re: Timing tensioner bolt hole stripped
I was able to access the tensioner threads on a D-series block in a '97 Civic hatch so that I could drill and time-sert for new threads. I had to remove the mounts from the driver-side. The hardest part was getting the hole straight.

I agree ^^^^ Better to have a clear acsess. Better Make a straight hole no matter helicoil or not than to risk having the bolt going in sideways a bit and having the tensioner crooked and have the T-Belt come off the cam gears or something

I know it has been a while:
I found that by measuring the depth of the hole I had an extra 10mm of depth. I went to my local auto parts shop and purchased a m10x1.25 at 60mm instead of the 50mm that was stock on my 2002 civic. A touch of red and in it went, torqued to 33 lb and it is still going strong.
I also read that if you use the Time-sert kit number 1012 you can do it by hand and not have to use a drill......
All the best with your repair...
