Hell no it isn't more Benificial then a DOHC.
Think, the intake and exhaust are tied together. On the DOHC you can control Valve overlap........BIG PLUS.

It wouldn't help anything at all. To adjust timing just rotate the distributor. All they do on a DOHC engine is allow you to adjust the timing of each cam individually.

Ignition timing versus cam timing is different. Cam timing controls when the valves open and close whereas ignition timing affects spark only. HTH.

Here is what I ran across, from the Resource...

For NA or nitrous setups using stock cam, set cam gear at 3 degree retard. Now reset the ignition timing to 18-19 BTDC.
Worth a useable 6-7 hp and 2 tenths at the track.

He means the power in the RPM range up or down not the ability to rev higher or lower.
