Default Mugen Chip for B18C?

Im getting a B18C put in the Del in a few days using (p72) ECU and the shop im having install the engine said they can put a "Mugen" chip in it which increases redline, will run the engine alot richer, and allows for only one VTEC engagement that hits at 5700 RPM.

Is there such a chip? And I thought Mugen stuff was expensive. Their asking 100 dollars for the chip. Any information on this would be great. Thanks.

The mugen chip they are speaking of is a generic copy of the mugen ecu program.
Your gas milage will not be the greatest with a spoon/mugen/skunk program.
You would be best off with a stock ecu or looking into a Phearable.net program

By the way, b18c1 motors don't use "dual stage vtec".
They use one vtec engagement point.

Anything over 5300 rpms for a vtec engagement point on a b18c1 with stock internals is too high.

its a b18c not a b18c1. B18C has two VTEC engagements. So you dont suggest i get the chip? Will it greatly decrease gas mileage...and what about performance...do these chips raise hp and torque numbers?

I dont want to blow my motor the first day i get it installed so...

Is it a good idea to chip your ecu on a stock engine? (mine being the B18C)
