Default Oil consumption

How much oil consumption is normal for a B16A2. I just filled my oil till it read halfway between the 2 dotted lines. That was a couple hundred miles ago. Now that I check it today the oil level reads at the bottom dot. Is it normal to consume that much oil. Also, what scale does the oil dipstick read? Does it guage the entire oil capacity of the oil pan or only a certain amount, like say a quart.

Hw hard are you driving it? I know if im beating on my car, my B18C will burn about a quart every 3k miles. Im not sure on the scale of the dipstick, but my friends ITR was DRY on the dip stick, but only 1.5 quarts low.

Anyone else? Any way to lower oil consumption?

Also, under hard accelerationm when I shift my friend who was following me in his car said he saw a quick burst of smoke from my exhaust when I shifted. Could this be the reason for burining oil?

is your oil pan gasket leaking? when you park your car somewhere overnight, in the morning, is there oil on the ground? you should probably put your car up on jackstands and look underneath and around the engine, see if anything is leaking. if not, it might be internal.

most cars' mufflers will spew out some smoke when downshifting. you should see this on just about any car with some power. it's normal.

I'm talking about a puff of smoke when upshifting, not downshifting.

i go through about a quart of oil every 1.5k miles, and i get puffs of smoke when shifting up at high revs, i asked 6 of my friends who have vtec engines and all but one of them have the same problem but to varying degrees, i think my engine uses the most oil, i've tried changing oils to different brands to see if it made any difference and the current oil i'm using, Bardhalls fully synt seems to be the best, i was using mobil 1 but found it to be the worst with the engine using over 5 quarts between 5k services, but another friend of mine who has the exact same car uses mobil1 and doesnt burn a drop between services, but also he doesnt drive as hard as me, but does push it from time to time. i've just learned to live with it and check the oil at least 2 times a week to make sure its not running low.
