Default oil

i just bought a car running 11.5:1 compression ratio, and i changed the oil putting in 5w-30. the car is going through it like nobody's business but the engine was built less than 30k miles ago. my question is should i go to a heavier weight oil, or should i be worried about the piston rings? please let me know.

A heavier weight oil will not significantly reduce oil consumption and could cause lubrication problems. You need to determine how the oil is being consumed. Is it smoking at idle, under heavy acceleration, or all the time? These symptoms are clues to what you need to do to correct the problem.

no man, there is no blow by, no smoke any time, start up, idle, or even under heavy accelration, which is why i have no idea what the deal is.

Is there any oil on the block or engine bay that would signafy a leak anywhere?

when you say that it is not smoking at all do you know this becuase someone was driving behind you in all those conditions and was watching or just because you could not see it in the rear view mirror? And how do you know that you are using so much oil? Do you check it all the time. Just a few questions.
