Names for Types of Suspension
<FONT COLOR="blue">This isnt really a tech query but I wasnt sure where to put it.
Im interested in how you guys describe different types of suspenion set-ups. by you guys I mean in the US, im from Ireland.
I see you guys say "Coilovers" and then your description confuses me.
Over here, these are the ways we describe things:
Lowering Springs - often used with stock dampers/shocks, they are not adjustable, varying drops. Price: from $80 - $230(Eibachs)
Uprated/Sports Dampers/shocks: Shortened&stiffened and some times damping adjustable shocks, usually matched with lowering springs. E.G.: Koni Yellows(what i have&love)/Reds, KYBs, Bilstein, etc Price: $250 - $590(Koni Yellows)
Coilovers: Spring and Shock in 1 unit. Spring is narrower than ordinary springs as it sits on top of the damper. Always height adjusable, &usually damping adjustable too. This is what we consider the top-end stuff.&therefore most expensive. Price: $800 - $????(Koni Coilovers are bout $1200)
Adjustable Springs: Springs with a plate top&bottom and usually a small helper spring that provides height adjustability. Used with either stock or performance dampers/shocks. a bit more expensive than Lowering springs due to adjustability.
Not very highly thought of, or widely available over here. Most wud only consider them for a show-only car, i.e. wud consider them almost dangerous for proper driving. Price: $? never checked!
SO! Wud ppl mind telling me where you differ in your names/opinions on the above?

Re: Names for Types of Suspension (Bren)
you have sort of answered your own question, the different set ups you have listed are called the same as you named them.
