How to tell if detonating?
Can it be subtle and you hear no pinging at all and eventually ruin your motor? Or would you hear something say if you revved it up to 8000 or so?
I'm curious cuz I have a feeling that my car is running hot with 11.6-11.8c/r with stock injectors and ls fuel pump... I upped the fuel pressure to 44psi at idle and the plugs are on the rich side, timing it at 17 deg, BKR 7 plugs, and running a sk2 chipped p28. I have been told I would be fine. I get a lil bit of popping from the exhaust between shifts. Engine temp stays normal becaue my fan is wired to be constantly on.... have to rewire it back to the sensor though. When I run with the fan off it is fine, especially at night, but when in traffic for a lil, it will over heat.
Any suggestions other than getting things I cna't afford right now...

I would run through everything again to be sure your base timing is correct.
lose the water wetter idea for a spoon or mugen thermostat if you do not
already have one. the water wetter will not work in your case and could
help you run a risk of blowing a head gasket. in fact, I would reccomend
you run the thermostat and also check the head gasket by running a leak
down/compression test. if you blow a head gasket due to too much CR w/
improper tuning... you will hate having to afford that repair bill
close to 12:1 CR with an agressive timing map in that ECU... you are in that
category where you need to get things right the first time. alot of guys build
motors and say that ever - popular "you will be fine" which in turn builds in
the need for thier services. I would take the car to a dyno and be sure you
arent running lean. did you do anything with a thermal break gasket like
a hondata gasket?
if you have a GSR IM for example and do not open the thermostat
bypass area of the gasket with a utility knife you can F your world right up.

I already have water wetter, but how can using it blow your head gasket if it prevents you from over heating?
How can i tell if i'm detonating though?

Ditto, I've never heard of such a problem...
