What good does it do you to make the CEL go out when there is still a problem? Check the code, do some troubleshooting to fix it, disconnect battery cable to reset ECU (and CEL) and see if comes back on.

CEL has to do with o2 sensor on the cat. took it off. and reinstalled m stock cat. and CEL is still there. just want to get rid of the CEL with out using a scan tool. just want to know if there is any other way on removing the CEL.

and that is done by disconnecting the battery and pulling out the ecu fuse. and that would clear the CEL light?

If you believe that using a scan tool will allow you to clear this code WITHOUT it popping back up (as you seem to indicate that your NOT going to fix whats wrong and ONLY want the CEL out), its not going to happen.
You do not have to remove the backup fuse AND the battery cable...just one will suffice. Yes, it will probably turn the CEL back off...only to come later again because you haven't fixed the problem.
What code are you throwing anyway?

FYI, that 2ndary 02 code I assume you're getting, it NOT putting your car in LIMP mode. It will throw a check engine light, but your ecu is not in LIMPdick mode. OBD2 programming is senstive to the 02 sensor(s) and will throw a check light if tampered with. Its nothing new...but again, your not in Limp mode and your car isn't witholding power because of this.

well, you really cant' with OBD2 programming. Its bitchy like that. Sometimes the 02 check light will come on frequently sometimes infrequently....you'll just have to live with it or go OBD1.
