Default Getting Code 9 - CYP Sensor?

I'm getting code 9, and according to c-speedracings list, it's the "CYP Sensor (cylinder) defective ciruit or unplugged/defective sensor". I have no clue what the CYP Sensor is and where it could be found. Any help on what to do next would be great (like where to check the CYP Sensor circuit or sensor, etc.)... or could it be something else?

Also, if it matters, I had to check when the car was running since the CEL light only comes on after about 10-20 minutes of driving and seems to reset when I turn the car off. Thanks!

I hope I don't have to get a new distributer. Usually pretty damn expensive.

Guess it's time for a new motor... (if that is the problem) lol

Well took off the distributer cap and guess what I find... red/brownish powder...

So do I just need to replace the housing? Or the entire distributer?

And.... there's green/blue liquid (I think) that is inside the distributer cap... it looks like it's coming from the rotor tip.... and the little metal pieces that stick out inside the distributer cap (part that touches the rotor tip when it spins) also have the green/blue stuff... *shrug*

Maybe it's because I purchased a piece of **** rotor (well the only one they had) from Schucks. The tip of the rotor looks a lot smaller too... it was pretty big when I first got it...

it can be fixed but you have to know what your doing. get a new distributor, cap and rotor. get one at the junk yard, they're way too expensive at the dealer.

Yeah, made a post on the classifieds section hoping someone had one.

Any idea what that blue/green junk was?

I replaced the internals when it happened to me. The screw for the rotor came out and fucked up the cyp sensor. So I just replaced the cyp sensor, cap and rotor with another one I had. Just make sure you match up the years when switching them...obd1 with obd1 etc.
